Our next Collegiate Committee meeting will be Thursday, February 20th at 8:00 PM – Call in information was sent out to the teams earlier this week. As always, we encourage every team to have a representative to phone in on topics that are being covered. For this week, that includes:
- Collegiate Commissioner election
- All-teams Regional Championship pre-race dinner
- Race director bid process for the 2014/2015 SMW Collegiate Race Series
- Reminders for Regional and National Championship participation
Talk to you then!
After much deliberation on the part of our Collegiate Committee, it has been decided that the Mean Green Triathlon on March 23, 2014 will function as our 2014 Regional Championship race. Details on swim length and seeding will be provided shortly.
Please know we will do everything in our power to make this format work as closely to a traditional open water triathlon as possible. Your understanding and patience is appreciated.
It’s a SMW Collegiate Series Point Race – comment below if you’re racing!
Teams, it is time to submit the name and email of your representative for the SMW Collegiate Committee. These club members sit in on a once-a-month phone conference used to:
- Keep teams up-to-date on new information for the conference such as rule changes, race updates, qualification rules, etc.
- Get feedback from teams on the resources they need to continue to grow and excel as collegiate clubs.
Make sure to select your representative ASAP and submit their information to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Hard to believe the summer is over BUT, even though it’s back to class it’s also back to triathlon training and racing with the SMW Collegiate Conference!
A few updates to get your year started right:
- Up-to-date rankings have been posted for your viewing pleasure under the “Rankings” section.
- The series race schedule has been updated – please note that Denison will NOT be a collegiate event this year!
- Stay tuned for details on a FREE Intro Draft-Legal Triathlon webinar from your faithful Commissioner Keith Kotar and Chairperson Morgan Johnson.
Happy back to school, and we’ll see you at the races very soon!
Teams, your start lists for River Cities are due Friday, July 26th AT THE LATEST if you want your athletes to be included in the collegiate division.
Please email email@example.com if any of your athletes have asked to be in the Open wave.
A big congrats to all of our conference teams who competed in this past weekend’s USAT Collegiate National Championship Races, and a special congratulations to Texas A&M for being our conference’s top ranked combined team, coming in at 8th overall!
As you know, our 2013-2014 race series starts this summer, and we can’t wait to get the new season rolling! Enjoy your time off in the next couple of months, and get ready to hit it hard again starting with Tri Aggieland.
If you have any questions about 2012-2013 rankings, or 2013-2014 race series logistics, please email us at firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thanks to all the teams who attended this weekend’s Regional Championship! Despite some of the worst race conditions we’ve seen, everyone prevailed and put out some fantastic race times.
The All Teams dinner Saturday night was a huge success. Over 100 regional collegiate athletes came together for free pasta and fellowship at the race site after packet pick up. We will continue this tradition next year, and we hope to see it grow.
A special congratulations to A&M for taking the Regional Series Championship by a landslide – way to go Aggies!
Updated rankings will be available shortly. Please email email@example.com with any questions.
